We're known for cheesesteaks.

Most big cities have some great restaurants. I send tourists to John's Roast Pork for the cheesesteak. I had a Geno's two weeks ago with cheese fries for breakfast and both were excellent.

I like your style.

(For the record, I like Geno's as well. It's fresh, not-frozen ribeye with some nice fat still on it and people talk about it like it's less than a frozen steak from the corner pizza place. I think it's just "cool" to bash them because you know, "real Philadelphians don't eat at that place." Meanwhile the people saying that are from Indiana.)

I'll just add this to the general observation:

The cheesesteak egg roll is Philadelphia's contribution to the world of hors d'oeuvres/appetizers. I forget where I first encountered one of these, but they're just about everywhere now.

However: are you familiar with the sushi roll known as the "Philadelphia roll"? Trivia question: Why does it have that name?

I assumed it was because of the "Philadelphia" cream cheese?

Your assumption is correct.

Cheesesteaks are great (in moderation) but foodies know about Philadelphia as a not-so-hidden treasure of culinary experiences for various tastes and price points.

Thank you. It's like a breakfast sandwich without the egg and the fries are like homefries. No drunks, no long lines.
A few times I've woken up in the wee hours on a work day and drove down, ate, went back home, caught a few Zs and made it in at eight. The wife even went once. Breaks up the monotony. Weather has to be nice, though.
You're absolutely right about the bashing.

I'm in on anything with cream cheese or sour cream. Yes, we like a Philadelphia roll.

I ordered Geno's via late night Uber eats when I returned from a two week Euro trip last week... to be honest I was quite disappointed in how flavorless it was. The best cheesesteaks I've had from "touristy" spots are Campo's and Cleaver's.

Also tried Oregon Steaks somewhat recently and was a bit disappointed.

I slightly prefer Sonny's over Campos in that area. But Campos is solid for sure.
