I got off the train on Friday at 30th Street and got in the cab line. I had one suitcase which the dispatcher put in the trunk of the cab. I was going to 15th and Locust. That's easy enough, right. Well, not for this driver. He went down Market, but instead of turning south on 15th Street to Locust. I said what are you doing, you needed to turn on 15th. He was very agitated when I said something. Anyway, he turned on Sansom, then on 15th.

But, that's not the effing unbelievable part of this. When he stopped to let me out, I said will you please get my suitcase out of the trunk. I then stepped out. My money was in my hand to give him when he was getting my suitcase out of the trunk. But, instead of getting out of the cab, he proceeded to speed off. I called Crescent and all the guy who answered did was send a message to the drivers asking if there was a suitcase in any of their trunks. He said if they heard anything, somebody would call me. There was a language issue with this driver, so who knows if he even understood.

I just left a message on the missing items phone line at Crescent saying that if I do not have the suitcase back today, I will be filing a police report.

paying by cc actually makes tracking easier one, and this is where uber is superior - would have been resolved in minutes with their technology

Best of luck - odd situation and hope you are able to track it down

most of my cab experiences in Philly or elsewhere are much as I am sure most would agree - sorry to hear

I never paid him, so if I was going to pay by cc it wouldn't have mattered. I just filed a police report. It was a waste of time. The officer just told me to call the cab company again. I understand that this can't be a priority for them, but I will be filing an insurance claim and wanted the report on record.

That really sucks. Any news on this?

Some of these cab drivers are the worst. If there's anything that comes from the Uber struggle, I hope it's at least an improvement in cab technology and service. I have before felt like the cab could take off with my stuff in the trunk too, but now I'm going to be extra careful. If they don't release the trunk, I'm not getting out.

That sounds like a robbery.

And the police don't really care. I could not even get them to come out for a burglary. And I've heard the same thing from many other people. Crime statistics in Philly are cooked.

^^^I was thinking the same thing. It seems he got mad and took off, rather than forgot. I hope newmarlig didn't have anything real valuable (e.g. computer) in the trunk.

The insurance company is treating this a theft. My Kindle Fire was in it along with my phone charger, some clothes, jewelry shoes, and a leather handbag and if course, the suitcase itself. But the worst thing is that I am selling a condo I inherited in Atlantic City and was bringing home a few items that had been in my parents home while I was growing up.
