It's been a 100 years since I had a good steak and wanted to go there on Monday and was wondering what is the best way to get there from Center City?

It's not very far, I'd just walk.

1) It's not far from Center City, and depending on where you are, you can walk.

2) The 47 bus route passes within a block if you're coming at it from the north.

3) People don't go to Pat's steaks for good steaks. Tourists go to Pat's Steaks because they saw it on TV or something.

I live on 22nd and Walnut so I guess the 47 sounds like the best route. And Pat's has the best bread and meat in the city which is why I feel they are the best

On a nice day it's walkable, if you like to walk. I used to live in Queen Village and walked from 3rd and Queen to 18th and Market, which is about the same distance. If not, the 47 is your best bet.

But as I've said often, Pats (and Geno's) are only good at 3:00 a.m. if you are drunk.

I live in the same general area and walk down to Italian Market on occasion. It's not really that big of a deal. Blocks are not long in Philadelphia.

The reality is that someone who considers themselves to be reasonably fit could walk from Center City - particularly 22nd and Walnut - to Pat's Steaks. At the very least, you might come closer to breaking even on calories! Based on my own (mis)adventures while visiting last year, I'd probably take the Broad Street Line down to Snyder and walk up Passyunk.

And FWIW, many people seem to consider both Pat's and their diagonal rival Geno's to be "tourist traps". There are likely better and more convenient choices right in Center City. My favorite happens to be Campo's on the 200 block of Market. The search function will surely turn out various threads on the subject.
