Im going to give you the straight truth. NO, Mt Airy is not safe. The east side of germantown Ave. is all black and filled with thugs and drug dealers.....(dont try to tell me otherwise, I lived there and seen it all) Hell I remember the night a few years ago when one of the Huligans in the area "Black craig" we called him was on the AVE robbing people in plain sight, over a dozen people before the damn cops finally got him. Stenton Ave by the Sonoco and BP is a drug hot spot.... Liberals who are rich but claim to be "Accepting" at the same time. It also has a high gay population. They drive 10 miles an hour through the streets in cars smothered in Obama stickers. They are tools and choose to ignore the crime and instead try to pass their town off as a great integrated neighborhood(which is serious bull****)........ are going to flame me for this post, but Im just providing you with the truth.

Im not trying to Make Mt Airy seem like the badlands, But I am sick of people trying to make Mt Airy seem little this nice little happy place. Just go to the WAWA....There are bums and Crack Addicts outside there all the time, and most of the younger kids all act like thugs. Walk around the east side at night and you can run into trouble, when I was younger I got robbed several times.....germantown is right down the street ...and i don't want anyone to try and say that place is nice because it is a hell hole. also go around Chew Ave by Sharpneck...that is a BAD Mt Airy neighborhood.
But hey at least you can admit it's not perfect, these hippies on the the west side try to make it like it's the greatest place you will ever see.

My mother is 75 and walks to chew ave every day. I know people on Sharpneck and Montana and Upsal that have the means to move,but love where they are. I went to school at Emlen ,I use to swim at pleasant swimming pool and played baseball at sedgwick playground.The people you see outside of WAWA from time to time are mental patients not crack heads.You have some pockets that are not great,but Mt. But I could have sworn a few of them are bums and crack heads, I know about the mental patients but I can tell a crack head when I see one. But overall I agree, it's a big city and there will be problems no matter what.
