Absolutely you could. I just saw a beauty on Taylor (284K all new inside)..that is the theatre district as they call it which is below Rt 30. SOME might say that it is the lower end of Collingswood as it has more rentals but some of the homes over there are well kept and comparable in size and build to Mt. Airy or Germantown stone homes.
I agree with templeu...let me correct. You will notice no difference in the day to day life in Collingswood. It is essentially low on crime, decent on schools and the avenue is only likely to pick up with the beautiful holiday decor that they do every year. It is just experienceing financial issues that need to be tempered for it to advance. Check out what they have to offer.
You could STEAL a new Lumberyard unit for about 250k. Buyer beware as they are dealing with some minor structure (collection of rain and ice in a 2 inch space between the dry cleaner and structure) and HVAC issues that the builder is NOT responding to at the present time.

I agree with Collingswood and Haddon Township. Houses are smaller, but you can get a 3/2 at your price point. I live in Collingswood - the town is turning over. A lot of Haddon Township is as well. These areas just have older residents who are moving south as they retire, downsize, etc. This is a great time to buy in one of these towns. I think transit towns will be more desireable over the years as inflation takes off and commodity (gas) prices stay high. Besides, who likes to drive all over creation like my parents did when I was growing up in the 80's and 90's?

Hmm. I missed this this before. What was it about Haddonfield you didn't like? Depending on what irked you, the Main Line may not be your kind of place (regardless of expense).

How would that work if you and your spouse live in Philly BUT BOTH work in NJ? Would it be cheaper to live in NJ and work in NJ or would it cancel out if you live in Philly and work in NJ?
