I am trying to think of a place my wife, and I would like to go for a weekend getaway a few hours or so drive from the Philly area. She doesn't ski, but maybe the Poconos would be fun anyway. Any suggestions?

Thanks!

if you want something that is nice that isn't centered completely around skiing and is within a couple hour drive, maybe Skytop in the poconos or possibly Jim Thorpe. To get to the good areas of VT and upstate NY you're looking at 6+ hours. of the ski areas in the poconos, Camelback is probably the most resort-like and will have the most lodging.

Blue Mountain, and Spring Mountain apparently has some sort of lodge now too I believe. This might help: Pennsylvania Ski Resorts | SkiCentral.com

I know you said she doesn't ski but it should give you an idea of the areas with lodges and wintery places to go. The Poconos are of course always a great place to go. You can rent a nice house there.

Eagle's Mere might be interesting. Wait for when it's cold enough for the lake to freeze over so you can ice skate and ride the ice-toboggan slide.

Also, check out the places in Pennsylvania featured in the NY Times Travel Section, it's kind of eclectic and out of the way list, seems to be what you want: Pennsylvania Travel Guide - Hotels, Restaurants, Sightseeing in Pennsylvania - New York Times Travel

Every winter,we like to go to Rehoboth Beach for a weekend. We stay sea side at the Boardwalk Plaza. Rehoboth has great shopping outlets and at night we drive over to Dover Downs Casino.

Great suggestions guys! I like the Pocono ideas. I ski, and my wife may be willing to try it, so maybe a day or 1/2 day on the slopes then some other stuff.

I also like the Rehoboth ideas. She does like to shop, so that may be good for her too.

I've been to Eagles Mere. Nice, quaint town with some really nice B&B's. I'll have to see if there is skiing somewhat close by.
