$20, but with tax and tip it was $26. (The service was very good, so I left a good tip).

It's "Restaurant Week" in Center City, and dozens of restaurants have special $20 lunch menus and $30 dinner menus.

I can see the WW Bridge from there, so it qualifies as Philly.
We gotta get there soon. I hear so much good about Max's..

Know what we like as a 'go to' local Italian place? Genos in Mayfair. Across the street from the Mayfair diner. Great bread, wonderfully delish clams and linguini.. Quaint with good prices.

The problem is that it's so good, there's a 1/2 hour line at lunch time.

I gotta give John's the slight edge in this one. IMO their pork has a little more bite to it, and what pushes it over the edge for me is the seeded rolls.

I also think their long hots are better than DiNic's, but thats just personal preference.

Both of them are great sandwiches, and I enjoy both of them, but I lean towards John's as the superior one of the two.

Default Monk's

Been going there for 10 years. I try other places, but it's the tried and true fall-back answer to: so, where shall we go eat? My husband is a beer guy (brews his own, too, so he's SERIOUS) and we both love love the mussels and Belgian frites.

For raw clams and oysters I like Snockey's in South Philly. Not all their cooked seafood is that great, the food there can be hit or miss, and I don't care for their Snapper Soup. If you like "raw bar" fare, though, Snockey's is reasonably priced and has a great selection.
