I second the vote for Ambler. It has a great downtown with lots of activity, and they are adding new stores all the time. A grocery store, a bakery and a beverage distributor are opening in the next 6 months or so.

No one's mentioned Doylestown, which is another great downtown, and is bigger than a Newtown or Yardley and quainter than Jenkintown, Ambler & Bristol. It is kinda far out though.

Agreed, Doylestown is a great place with an active downtown. Home prices would be just as expensive as Narberth though, right?

Bristol boro?? Am I missing something? I haven't been down there in about 12 years so I guess things can change...but when I see Ardmore, Newtown, Jenkintown they aren't even close. Its like a which one does not fit. Bristol Boro isn't in the same league as those

he NJ towns ARE the Philly burbs. In fact all the NJ towns mentioned are closer to CC then most every one of the other pa towns mentioned. When you speak of the Phily burbs, Nj must be included.

Of course, but THIS is the Philadelphia forum and posters should talk about New Jersey towns in the NJ forum designed just for that.

Bristol boro is actually two worlds. The south end of town around Mill St is pretty grim because it has a lot of poor immigrants who rent, although it isn't really "unsafe". The north side of town, called Harriman, is very nice middle to upper class with beautiful restored or well kept houses, tree lined streets and plenty of "quaint charm"

I must have been in the bad side....I played softball around that area so I probably missed that. Do they all go to the same school district?
