I dunno if this helps but the bridges to drive into philly have a $5 one way toll. When I was in camden for a concert I couldn't get out quick enough. I don't think camden / NJ is simply the east side of philly.

I think it heavily favors PA, especially when you look at media coverage.

Neither New Jersey nor PA have any influence on Philly really.

Actually this is true. I grew up in western PA (not erie) and Philadelphia is considered "Not Pennsylvania". When you are driving to Philly the interstates don't even tell you you are going to it until you are about 30-50 miles away. And when you do start driving into the philly area it's like boarding a space ship compared to the rest of PA.

Yes I would also agree that this is largely true, although there are things about Philadelphia that are reminiscent of PA, such as a chronically underfunded infrastructure and vision less, brainless, self-serving politicians (although this defines US politicians in general.

I strongly disagree. PA has a huge influence on Philadelphia via the state government in Harrisburg, which is controlled by a governor and legislators who are not from Philadelphia.

PA has about 70% of the metro population and 80+ of the jobs and GDP.

NJ is definately a part but on the whole PA is more the influence

This sounds about right. But in the end, I don't think it really is (or should be) a contest.

When it comes to vacation-time, NJ beats out PA. Everyone goes to the Shore, not to the Endless Mountains.
