My family is considering a move to Philly. We are looking at houses in the Wynnewood area. My job would be around 6th and Walnut Streets. Is a commute on the Norristown High Speed Line to the subway a viable option, or a huge pain with the transfer?

Secondly, is there parking at the 69th Street station if I wanted to park and ride on the subway?

Thanks,

Andy

Would that be Silver Spring, MD you're hailing from?

The Market-Frankford "El" - what you called the subway - is just steps away from the High Speed Line. During rush hour, an El train will arrive every six minutes or less.

No parking is available at 69th Street.

Depending on where in Wynnewood you live, you could also consider taking the Regional Rail train from Wynnewood, get off at Market East Station (11th and Market) and enjoy a healthy stroll over to 6th and Walnut (or hop on the El at 11th and Market if the weather is really bad).

They have a garage at 69th street, just not at the actual terminal. I'm not sure I would suggest parking there at night though. They're apparently building another one somewhere near the terminal but I don't know when that's going to happen.

Tone's right. Just park at whatever station of the Norristown HSL you're getting on at, and transfer to the Market-Frankford line at 69th street terminal.

Yeah you don't want to park at 69th St at night. My suburban cracker butt gets nervous driving there at night, and I lived in North Philly.

Oops, I guess I never noticed a garage nearby since I used to take the 101/102 light rail into 69th Street.

Walking around there aimlessly and alone is probably asking for trouble, but I've never had a single issue simply driving through. Though I wouldn't feel comfortable doing this myself, FWIW, my white, Jewish, 5'3" uncle parks-and-rides into Center City from the 69th Street transportation center alone at night every now and again. He also used to live in that immediate area, so that probably explains the lack of fear factor on his end.

I don't think that Norristown Highspeed line stops in Wynewood. But I know for a fact, that the commuter rail lines do.

Ride the el to11th Street station and take the commuter rail lines.
