I am planning to attend a show at The Greater Philadelphia Expo Center. I am coming from New York. I am having a difficult time finding the best route to the venue. I will be taking the Amtrak Keystone Service from Penn Station. It believe that I would go to the 30th Street Station. From there I'm not sure. Is there another train that can get me to the Expo Center or would I need to take a cab or a bus?

The other station that looked like it would get me close would be the Paoli Station. I am not sure about that station, though, because it looks like a smaller station and I don't know if I would have additional transit options.

Is there anyone that can give me advice on the most direct and safe way to get to my destination? I will be travelling alone. I would like to get into town around 9-10am and then be at my destination by 11am. Also, I would be leaving the show at closing, 6pm in order to get back on a 7:30-8pm train back to New York.

Thank you for any help.

Have you tried the public transit option on google maps? I'd do that and then double check with SEPTA

Hi CAtoNY,

I can direct you from Amtrak's 30th St Station. There are actually a couple different ways to go and they differ in one way may be faster depending on highway traffic (& price).

Option 1:
*From Amtrak's 30th St Station: walk over to 29th St (aka Schuylkill Av) & Market St -This is basically directly across the train station on the "29th St Side". Catch either the Route 124 or Route 125 bus.
*Get off at King of Prussia Mall Plaza Transit Center.
*Then transfer onto to a second bus, the Route 99 bus. Take the westbound bus which will have 'Church St & Main St Phoenixville' on the destination sign on the front of the bus.
*The westbound Route 99 bus stops directly at the Greater Philadelphia Expo Center
This is the faster option if traffic is good (the 124/125 bus travels on I-76 west), and if you schedule it right.
The Route 124/125 bus is about a 45-55 min ride. The 99 bus is about a 15-20 min ride

Option 2:
*Inside Amtrak's 30th St Station, go to the SEPTA Regional Rail section.
*Catch the SEPTA Regional Rail line called the MANAYUNK/NORRISTOWN LINE. Get off at the station called Norristown Transportation Center.
*There catch the westbound Route 99 bus; which stops at the Greater Phila Expo Center.
The Manayunk/Norrisotwn Line train ride is approx 40 min. The 99 bus ride is approx 40 min

Thank you both for your replies. SEPTA, this is exactly the information that I was looking for.

You could also rent a car at 30th st station (all the majors are there) and drive to and from the venue directly. That would be the fastest and most comfortable but it will cost more and of course it isn't the politically correct way to go.

Bryson - thanks for the heads up on the rental situation. This would have been a perfect option. I looked though, and it looks like they all close around 3:30 or 4 on Saturdays. I will keep this in mind when I plan a trip to the Philadelphia area again.
