boston has too much polish, in fact, the lack of polish is what i like about philly. grittier, more interesting, and better food. I wouldn't mind if there was less trash on the ground though

Is that true that Philadelphia is cheapert to live than Chicago as well?

Both Philly and Chicago seem to favor much better financially compared to LA, SF, Boston, NY, DC. But I guess I never compared the two of them together before.

Just seeing if others can confirm that as well - that Philly is cheaper (housing, etc.) than Chicago.

IMO Chicago is the "capital" of the Midwest - just as Boston is the "capital" of New England - so that status will bring with it a relatively high cost of living. That said, it's possible that some suburban/exurban parts of Chicagoland could be relatively less expensive than a similar profile in the Philadelphia area since the former does not have the density of the Boston/Washington corridor of which Philly is a part.

Philly's "center" is easier to navigate (and more interesting) than Boston's and our weather is more tolerable than Chicago's. We have better food and Philadelphia natives have more personality than both.

Be jealous.
