My husband's office will be in King of Prussia. We are not set on Bucks County, it was just mentioned to us. Someone on another thread said they have good schools but there was a gang incident last year at one of their schools. Right now we are in an upper middle class area, and while there are drugs (where aren't there?) there are no gangs whatsoever. My kids would not know how to handle that. We are looking for a nice suburb close to KOP with safe neighborhoods and a good school district. Our budget for our home will be $500k-$800k. Any suggestions?

Posted on the other thread, the gang incident the poster referred to happened in one district in Lower Bucks. It is not pervasive in the county.

Yes, I also said the same thing on the other thread. Don't not move to Bucks County because of gangs. Don't move to Bucks County because there's plenty of nice areas with good school districts much closer to KOP.

Bucks County is a huge county area wise. The drug and gang activity is the exception and not the norm in Bucks County.Dont read too much into one person telling you Bucks County is full of gangs, that is ridiculous. Overall its a great thriving wealthy county. Closer to the Philadlephia border there are some industrial areas where there probably is some gang activity. Those gang areas are probably less than 1% of Bucks County overall.

If I had to tell you towns you must check out close to KOP in your price range, they would be.

If you look at a map of the Philadlephia area. The area east of 476 generally are established older towns/ homes full of character . The area west of 476 is generally newer homes, growing areas, lots of mcmansions etc.

Default Bensalem

My family moved from Bensalem in Bucks County a few years ago to Dallas, Texas. I would recommend Bensalem to anyone thinking about moving to the Philadelphia area. The public schools in Bensalem aren't the best, but if you know anything about the northeast, it's all about the private schools. Holy Ghost Prep is located in Bensalem, a VERY highly reguarded male high school, and Nazareth Acedemy, a highly reguarded female high school is located not to far from Holy Ghost in North East Philly. My brother and sister went to these schools, and both got into prestiguious colleges, which lead them to become an accountant and a lawyer respectively. There are also many reputable coed private high schools in the area such as conwell egan, archbishop ryan, etc. Bensalem is the largest town outside of philadelphia, and about 20-25 minutes down I-95. I have great memories growing up in Bensalem, and I hope to move back someday.

I happen to be a sophmore in high school as well. I live in Delaware county but theres probably the same things around bucks county. Me and my friends like to hop the train to philly and go shopping on south street when it's nice out. There's a lot of great places to see shows and concerts like the electric factory, the TLA, the Fillmore ect. If their into music but dont really want to go to philly to see a big show, there are many places like milkboy and other coffee houses, churches, and other places that have more local bands that play every weekend. Other than that theres not much for us. Mall mostly then movies, eachothers houses, but most the time we just walk around towns just wondering for hours. It kinda sucks, but it could be worse.

Doylestown is a desireable place to live so you'd definitely be paying for the zipcode depending on where you were there.
BTW, Doylestown Hospital is great. If it were ever that much of an emergency, you'd be sure medi-vac would get them to a downtown hospital.

Doylestown is also in Central Bucks school district. And you are definitely paying for the location. It's a great school with a LOT of activities and ways to get involved. It's not too far for your kids to take college courses in Newtown before they go to a four year institution college. Many of the professors come from local colleges in the area - such at Temple U.

You can take the SEPTA train to center city. About an hour or so ride... but it beats trying to find parking in some locations.

The best school district around here is definately Council Rock. The best in sports would definetly be either Neshaminy or Pennsbury. I am a student at William Tennent High School in Warminster Bucks county. I am a senior in high school. It is ok here. The best part is the season change because you never get bored of doing the same thing all year around. Sledding is a lot of fun or the anticipation of a snow day. Their are so many places to go and do around here. The great city of brotherly love is about 45 min away. One of the largest malls in bucks county Franklin Mills is about 20 from here in warminster. Dorney Park is a great place and especially for halloween haunt fest is always a great time pluse in the waterpark it is pretty fun. Hershey park is always a fun time too a little more historic but still great. For really young kids their is Sesame Street for your kids a great job opportunity i think. South Street which is in philadelphia is a great and fun place to take a family day trip to. Old city Philadelphia is very unique and great for touring plus has very fantasy restraunts that are romantic for your hustband and you. Doylestown is a great little town with a great hospital. Your kids would be going into the Central Bucks School system if you lived their which is a pretty good school with a new turfed football stadium. a little on the expensive side and a little farther from the city but still a good time. On the deleware river the nice part of it they have tubing jet skeing which is always a great time. During the winter rent a log cabbin in the poccones which is a great skiing place and tubing. Soo much fun i always have a blast. Plus their are a lot of paintball courses up that way which are always a good laugh. It is a awesome place. It is a great enviorment with a lot of great people and this i comeing from a kid that plays 3 varsity sports. If i can do it then i am more then sure they can. please consider maybe warminster it is right in the middle of everything. Well hope i helped you. have a great time and best of luck with your decission R.J. Risch

Sorry but whats up with people replying to topics from over a year ago? The OP may have already moved! That seems to happen a lot on these forums.

As for Council Rock, I've said this before but it's a matter of personal opinion. I graduated from CR and hated it.
