A Walmart at Arimingo Av and Castor opened less than a year ago. Also South Philly, Blvd at Adams, Blvd at Grant, Franklin Mills so now there are 5 inside the city. As noted earlier, "the run down South Philly one" is now enlarged and brand new. They need to do the same thing to Cheltenham. It's too small and the lines are too long. Also the help there sucks but when you hire from a neighborhood like that what can you do. South Philly solved the problem at least temporarily by hiring a lot more people including cashiers. BTW there is a newer Target also on castor Av other side of Arimingo Av behind Shoprite and Home Depot. That makes 5 for Target as well.

Target. It's at Castor and Richmond.

There actually are three decent Kmart stores in Philly that are modern and not from the 70's. Along with the Gallery location, there also is one in Southwest Philly in Penrose Plaza next to a ShopRite, which was an Acme until not too long ago. And the one on Frankford Ave in Northeast Philly is good too. The other two Kmart stores still open in the city are horrible though. Those would be at Castor and Orthodox Streets in Northeast Philly, and on Roosevelt near Cottman Ave also in Northeast Philly. These two were just like the one in South Philly on Oregon Ave that closed, so I don't get why these two are still open.

This thread has gotten somewhat off topic. This is not to discuss retail that is ALREADY IN PHILADELPHIA. This is to discuss new retail opening in the city. If Walmart or Target were opening new stores it would be a different story, but please keep the thread on topic.

ALDO in Liberty Place dissappears when I was there this weekend.
The whole store is surrounded and blocked by plywood. I did not see any notice posted on it in regard to renovation or anything. Security is not too helpful when i asked them questions.

Also Kiehl's temporary pop-up store is gone there. Source said that they are looking to get a contract somewhere on Walnut St. or even possibly by Sephora across the street from Liberty Place! I am hoping it's the latter.

Last but not least, Allen Edmonds is scheduled to be opened Jan 31st. When I passed by the intersection, it seems that they have started installing shelves. I am a bit disappointed by the quality of the shelving - looks cheap. BUt me think we need to wait for the whole interior to be installed and displayed to see whether the store will look fancy, hip and retro. Can't stand another store looking like Men's Warehouse - so generic and old people-ish,,,,

I will post pictures as soon as I find my Ipad charger....

Pman, thanks for the info. Boyds also carries them.
But I can't drop off my shoes when I need re-sole in these authorized dealers. Only Allen Edmonds retail stores can do that. Hence, I am happy they are here!

I wish we could get a few great British stores over here. I would like the alternative, instead of having to order all of my clothes online.

Cnote:
Jack Wills is British. It is on Walnut.
You can get TopMan / TopShop in Nordstrom now @ KOP.

I understand the dilemma.
I sometimes go to Manhattan to get stuff of certain brands or try to get whatever I can (clothing and furnitures) whenever I go home to Miami.
I wish they had KidRobot and Kartell in Philadelphia. SIGH!
