Lululemon Plans New Location Near Rittenhouse Square

Lulu is moving to 1700 Walnut, next to TD bank right before the square.

The old Lemon site is being demolished, hopefully for a structure that is 5+ stories.. I hate seeing 1 story blobs on Walnut st.

When Lemon moves, that will open up a rather large storefront at 1422 Walnut (old Kenneth Cole). Interesting to see what Pearl does with the old Lemon and what will replace the temporary spot at 1422 Walnut.

Well when Kenneth Cole was gone from that spot, I recall that it was vacant for a while until the accident with lululeom happened.
So maybe with the Cheesecake nearby now, it will be easier to find a tenant.

This is a good news.
Also, this kind of going back to the question: If an independent store can actually afford Rittenhouse Row, why on earth do we still get two phone stores on the 15th.

Seems like independent boutiques are more in touch with the potential of Rittenhouse... This is the second boutique this month to announce a move.

The Cheesecake Factory Bldg was developed by a NY developer, Midwood Investment, who hired the same architect, BCJ, who've designed many of the Apple Stores. The rental of that ground floor space, in a brand new building, is probably significantly higher than what that clothing store will be paying.

I don't like having those phone stores there either but they can afford the rent and it beats having such a highly visible spaces stay unoccupied.

fwiw, BCJ (Bohlin Cywinzcki Jackson) is a native Pennsylvania firm, with offices in Philly, Pittsburgh & Wilkes-Barre (plus a west coast office in SF). Midwood is pretty good about hiring local architects.
