I had been going to the Picanha Grill at Castor and Hellerman avenues before I moved to Oxford Circle for 18 months - in part because of LaBan's two-bell review. In the general vicinity of that churrasacuria you can find Korean, Jamaican, West African and even Mongolian eateries along with a few more Brazlian ones. There's a meat market catering to Dominicans a few blocks south of it.

There are two outstanding supermarkets serving the Russian immigrants that live up that way further north - one at Bell's Corner, the other in Bustleton.
Read the article. To me, the good news extends beyond good food (though that in itself would be commendable). Perhaps these ambitious immigrants are providing the impetus for a resurgent Northeast, where they themselves live.

Just re-read this. I need to stop cutting corners. I meant I "read" the article (past tense), not "Read the article!" (command ).

They had closed for 2 years by now.
They tried to expand once 10 years ago in NJ, but they did not get a good respond.

The Montgomery Mall's store is at the brink of closing.
Chestnut store is HQ so they have to keep it; it is the for the purpose of brand presence in the area. Same thing with KoP.

Looks like Bebe is the next retail chain to go out of business.

Bebe to shut down Philadelphia Mills, KOP, Cherry Hill, and Gloucester locations

Quote:
Bebe Stores Inc., a women’s apparel chain with locations across the U.S., is planning to shut its stores, including locations at the Philadelphia Mills, King of Prussia, Cherry Hill Malls and at the Gloucester Premium Outlets.

The company will seek a turnaround as an online brand, according to people familiar with the situation.

The company is trying to close the locations without filing for bankruptcy, said the people, who asked not to be identified because the efforts aren’t public. However, Chapter 11 may be required if enough landlords aren’t willing to negotiate, they said.

The company, known for selling trendy going-out apparel to young women, has been operating about 170 boutique and outlet stores. Bebe would become the latest retailer to shed brick-and-mortar stores and hitch its fortunes to e-commerce. Kenneth Cole Productions said in November that it would close almost all of its locations, concentrating instead on its online, international, and wholesale businesses.

So alot of my female friends are so excited that Hello Kitty cafe (a k a food truck) comes to Philadelphia. Just out of my curiosity, I asked where the location is going to be.
And surprise surprise, the cafe will come on April 22nd to King of Prussia mall.
I am just adding the fuel to the fire, but I am so tired that retailers think KOP = Philadelphia.

KoP has taken its retail and now restaurant growth to new heights.. not only are they attracting the most luxurious international brands, but they are also attracting local flare on a retail and dining level.. for example an excellent restaurant Mistal from Princeton has recently opened up shop in the mall near Neiman Marcus and its a major success already.

Philadelphia has improved across the board, but I've accepted that any major exciting retail news is coming from KoP, I can't even imagine what Simon is planning for the soon to be former JCP space.

There are still the Outlets in CC, I am ever so curious to see how that will turn out.

True.
Although I am really hoping the area of Market East will take off.
We know there is Iron Hill, Honey Grow, MOM's Market and Design Within Reach.
And there is 95% chance is that Primark will open at FOP.
So let's see.

cpomp: What do you do for living btw if I dont mind asking? I am always curious. YOu don't have to answer.

Obviously what Simon management does to snag retailers continues to work.

Nowadays I'm trying to see it as good for the region as a whole.
