I vaguely remember, that a few years ago, Macy's was seriously considering a Bloomingdale's in one of the existing S Broad buildings between City Hall and the Academy, but can't recall exactly where. It was eliminated (I think) because of street access and parking.

He promoted that term when he was in charge at The Saturday Evening Post, the first national magazine to reach 1 million paid circulation, in the 1920s.

I'll wager Derek and Sissela have children too.
Oh, yes, right. I did know about Bok.

Someone did try to resurrect the Saturday Evening Post for a while.

It was the Atlantic Bldg, Broad and Spruce, across from the Kimmel Center. There are at least 5 parking garages within 1-2 blocks of Broad and Spruce.

My theory is that the Bloomingdale's will be going into the old Burlington site. Burlington is not staying in the same site. The floor plan is more than large enough to accommodate. You have the new Market East project nearly completed and are only 2 blocks away from one of the top performing Macy's in the companies portfolio. Its a no brainer.

Similar to Willow Grove. You do not need 30 high end stores to attract a Bloomingdale's. It all comes down to ensuring that there is a certain ratio of upper mid/lower high retailers within that most adjacent wing to retain them.

Also remember PREIT bought the property directly across from what hopefully will be the Bloomingdale's at 11/Market.

It would be incredible if you turn out to be right. But, in spite of the "forward" looking East Market project, which looks like it will be successful, there are still many lingering image problems wrt to how people view that area. When the Gallery first opened it had a more upscale trajectory. When S&C folded the entire Gallery "felt" like an extended version of Kmart. When JCPenny closed it got worse. The very idea that Bloomingdale's would even consider the Burlington spot seems like a big fantasy to me.

I could be wrong but I thought I read the movie theater was going in the old Burlington space.

Finally have the official document that Macy's Inc. is indeed actively looking for a Full Line Department store in Center City. There is another document that focuses specifically on Center City, but this is the only document I could source at the very given moment.

Bloomingdale's is actively seeking a Full Line store in Center City.

And then they want to open anywhere from 2 - 4 Bloomingdale's Outlet stores in the suburban markets of SEPA, NJ and DE.

Regardless, it appears the center opening has been delayed until next fall with the cinema now not scheduled to open until November, 2019: Fashion District Philadelphia's opening is delayed until November 2018, PREIT CEO says

Makes me wonder if the market has softened on them.

That link is at least 5 years old. I will remain hopeful, but I still do not see it happening.

That person, Beurt SerVaas, continues to publish a revived Saturday Evening Post. It now comes out six times a year (i.e., bimonthly).

The nonprofit SerVaas formed also publishes another former Curtis Publishing title, the children's magazine Jack and Jill.
