In recent years more suburbanites have come into center city for shopping and dining, but I do no think this addition will draw people from all over the area. More or less the same people who currently shop at the gallery will shop at the new century 21. Obviously this is a step up from the current anchors, but not groundbreaking.
It seems like a lot of people are simply not familiar with this store. I lived in nyc for a few years and century 21 is much more of a draw than people make it out to be. comparisons to ross are laughably off base. I was always under the impression that they were only in the new york metro too, so I think it's a pretty big deal that Philly is getting one.

Plus this was the type of place that tourists would go to in NYC and a location in the gallery next to the convention center and the historic tourism area is sort of perfect. It's not bloomingdales but I always thought bloomingdales would be better off elsewhere in center city, century 21 is a much more practical and realistic fit for the gallery that still very much brings that upscale shopping destination the gallery needs as an anchor.

I mean honestly, we're talking about a place that used to have old navy, burlington coat factory, and kmart as its primary retail tenants. People were talking hopefully about maybe getting a target there. Century 21 is far above all of that. It's not the very top tier with bloomingdales, nordsroms, etc, but it's arguably on the tier below that and I don't think people should have reasonably expected to gallery to get anything better. This is real good news if it actually happens.

agreed - this carries much higher end stuff and good prices

their store/s are always packed and a destination of tourists too - not just because they forgot to pack a belt

I believe they are only NYC metro - and the only tore outside of NYC proper is in Morristown NJ I believe

I agree this is a step up from the current tenants, much better than Ross and Burlington, and I do hope that it changes the Gallery for the better. I am just skeptical. I will be checking the place out when it opens, hopefully I will be pleasantly surprised with the outcome.

Also, I never said a Bloomingdales in the Gallery was a good idea, its not. I think closer to Rittenhouse Square a Bloomingdales would do phenomenal. The Gallery needs a down-to-earth selection of retailers, but nice enough to keep it from being run-down and seedy like it currently is.

I actually do believe this will be a positive - the location in between the RTM and Ind Mall at 8th will help create a link to draw people and tourists.

Wait...I just realized something - if C21 goes to that spot, where will Eataly go?

And like everybody else, again I try to keep it on the positive side that this C21 will attract alot of people to come. It might not, but I would like to keep it in the positive side.
C21 is kind of a big deal in NYC especially among tourists and bargainists. I have friends from Montgomery County that go to Manhattan just for shopping excursion in C21.
My only fear is that this C21 will carry second class product just like the Daffys we had in Chestnut. Hence it will have a bad reputation at the end.

Now if PREIT can bring LEGO Store, American Girl store and maybe Microsoft or Apple store to the Gallery...

I think these types would be good actually

Also some form of a Apple or Microsoft or even some Xfinity concept would be good - they could leverage the signage as well

Yep, I used to see families all the time on the NJ Transit going to NYC for the day specifically for American Girl Store. I think these types of things will be very good for The Gallery and is the perfect location actually. Maybe the Disney Hole will even come back around.

Furthermore the one in Chestnut will be three-floor. I am hoping for something similar to what they have in 5th Ave. The interior there is awesome AND BRIGHT!!!!
Also they will have collab merchandise that is only available in the Flagship store!
I am excited!

And Kembrel spot will be occupied soon!
