I also heard a rumor that Williams Sonoma may re-open in the old Ann Taylor space at 1713 Walnut, which would be great.

And apparently this at 1712 Walnut Street... https://www.flickr.com/photos/94842764@N03/52025423145/

Looks like there is hope! The biggest issue now is the huge burned out hole mid-1700 block.

Apartments over retail, I hear. Don't have info on developer or number of units but believe the replacement will be taller than the series of rowhouses it will replace.

Probably a dumb question but is Lotus an actual restaurant that is going in that space or is it just a picture showing they’re looking to fill the space with a restaurant?

I asked a similar question on the other forum, and it’s supposedly just a rendering of what could be there. The rumor is that the ground floor is a “significant retailer” while the floors above are going to be a restaurant.

Next on the list of permanent closures is Paddywax Candle bar on Chestnut. With that and Shakespeare & Co both closing, it's a somewhat significant loss of relatively unique attractions in CC.

It looks like they're finally making the 17th and Chestnut corner look much better: https://www.metrocommercial.com/prop...estnut-street/

Yeah the bookstore closing sucks. I would like to see something similar take Shakespeare's spot. Would be awesome if it was a local bookstore/cafe. Paddywax closing now seems odd given it was closed for literally years during the pandemic. With both, it's probably just because their leases were up. Paddywax is an interesting concept, but you do it once, and I don't really think there was a big reason to go back.

That's good. In 2022, that little 80s/90s looking strip mall does feel out of place.

This is a perfect site for a more substantial building. Either way, glad it will be updated, it desperately needs a revamp.

That's a shame.

Saatva is the retailer taking over the old Wells Fargo on Walnut St. Not terribly exciting but still a great brand with great locations around the country: https://saatva.applytojob.com/apply/...-Store-Manager
