I just hope grocery outlet is more stable and financially sound than 'Bottom Dollar Food' was. When I ever I drive down Grays Ferry Ave, it annoys me they built a building just to leave it abandoned a year later.

The chain's been in business since 1946. Bottom Dollar Food was a brand launched by Delhaize in the late 1990s. I'd say that GO has proven it can go the distance, and Delhaize (now Ahold Delhaize) has a rather mixed record as a supermarket operator.

I haven't been to the Grocery Outlet near me but I will say this, Bottom Dollar didn't make me feel poor shopping there. They were always clean, well stocked. well organized and well lit. That might sound superficial but no one wants to shop for food in some dank, disorganized mess. Of course near me is Weaver's Way, I walked in there once and there was some hipster stocking yogurt dancing to the Talking Heads song being played, that was just too Mt. Airy for me.

Maybe see you there? That's the GO nearest me as well.

Weavers Way was born in Mt. Airy. What did you expect?

I went into the Turn 7 at 48th and Market the other day, and it was pretty interesting. It's the venture from Rick Forman of Forman Mills.

"Disruptive retail" indeed.

Forman deserves a medal. He's relieving the headaches of several different groups of people: Retailers with too much stuff on their hands, little-guy sellers looking to make a buck undercutting the big guys, and regular shoppers looking to save a buck, or several.

The interior retail space of the Drexel Building at 15th and Walnut has been under construction for the past few weeks. One of the permits shows that a health club is opening: https://li.phila.gov/property-histor...GM-2021-014138

I'm wondering if perhaps Lifetime Fitness is taking that space? The rumor was that they were taking over the Sporting Club at the Bellvue space but that gym appears to be reopening/rebranding: https://sportingclubbellevue.com/

Does anyone have any intel?

Well, if true, that would be the third fitness club to occupy the Drexel Building in the years since the brokerage that gave it its name left it.

Or would it be the fourth?

J. Crew Factory is opening at 16th/Chestnut in the former Children's Place spot. Good to see a space filled on Chestnut Street.
