Based on this article it sounds like Venditore is more a market / coffee shop combo, my hope is that they can coexist successfully.

Plus, if Starbucks Reserve is actually opening on Walnut, it is likely a ways off due to how much needs to be done at the BN space.

I bet the mechanicals are gonna be relatively synergistic.

Unfortunate news for H&M fans although honestly I was shocked that they once thought three Center City locations were viable let alone two.

It's encouraging that they are supposedly in talks with other tenants already, but this is still unfortunate. This store is always crowded, and I like H&M.

They did announce months ago that they're closing 240 stores this year: https://bestlifeonline.com/hm-240-stores-closing-news/

A Zara would be amazing.

I have no info to back this up, but I'd think a large/popular store would contribute more foot traffic throughout an entire day than a restaurant/entertainment venue. They of course have to take what they can get though.

Didn't there used to be a Zara right around where the H&M is on Walnut? Or am I losing it...?

There was but if I recall they didn’t really want to leave the city but couldn’t work out a deal.

As for H&M, I really don’t like that the Fashion District taking stores from Chestnut and Walnut Street. In my opinion, the “entertainment” options that they are planning to put in the H&M should be on East Market with the tourists.

H&M being the Ikea of fashion, I'm not that troubled that it decided to focus on the Fashion District. Especially if, as that article noted, the company's getting a sweet deal on the rent.

I'd be a little more troubled if Brooks Brothers pulled up stakes on Walnut to move to East Market. (My own style runs towards this classic American clothier, whose clothes never go out of fashion because they were never in fashion to begin with.* But as regular-price Brooks Brothers tends to run a bit above my pay grade, I usually head to their outlet store in Philadelphia Mills when I need a fix.)

*Brooks Brothers did, however, stage a runway show in Milan(!) for its 200th anniversary in 2018.

I also just find it very annoying that the Inquirer has a stand alone article featured prominently on their website about this H&M closing but they almost never have stand alone articles about individual store openings on Walnut Street or anywhere else. Where are the articles about Aritizia, Outdoor Voices, Faherty etc?
