The Barnes and Noble signs are up in the windows of the old Forever 21 on Chestnut Street. Says it’s opening Spring 2023.

^^Bitter sweet. Great for Chestnut. Bummer for the Square. It was nice to have somewhere to kill time in a non-booze place (not that I need that very often, lol). At least B&N didn't just close. That would have been a bummer. I hope something cool moves in. Couldn't be more prime than that space.

It's amazing how much different a demographic can change only one block away.

I noticed that the Design Within Reach store was removed from Suburban Square's website and it's no longer listed on the brand's website either. 1) they seem to be quite fickle with their leasing (previously pulled out of East Market) and 2) hopefully this could be good news that they decided on Walnut St with its recent renaissance.

I noticed that. I hope they are still planning a store.
If they don't think Lower Merion is will work, then they have a poor research team...

Would be nice if they opted for CC though. Still waiting on Williams Sonoma to announce their return too.

1700 block is really close to full occupancy other than the hole. I assume Aritzia is still opening in the other vacant spot across the street but I haven’t heard anything.

In Old City News....another wedding shop opening on 3rd street.

I tell ya, if you want to buy a wedding dress and grab a cup a coffee after, Old City is your place.

I hope so. Jobs are still listed on Indeed, but when I walked by last month it looked quiet.
That store will draw big crowds, basically like Zara (women only though).

I'll take it. Cool that Old City is building back its independent retail character. Would be cool to see more home unique stores too, kind of like what I see in Flat Iron, NY.

And you can never have too many coffee shops!

I wonder what's going on with the Insomnia HQ, I just walked by the other day and also noticed nothing had been done.
Look what happened to DC's Chinatown after the Verizon Center went in with its access to the Metro. Rents etc skyrocketed and drove the Chinese community and their businesses out. It's a shell of itself now with a Chinese ''archway'' and Chinese language sign over the Walgreen's script.
