Family of 4 looking for vacation/second home 3-4 hours from Philly. Maybe a small farm or land to build on. Would Like access to small town life. Budget is $99,000 with house, $40,000 without. Min 4 acres. Can anyone help me locate the small town of my dreams? Artsy, healthy, progressive area a plus.

Good luck with that. You cannot touch land in this area for that price. 99 grand buys you not a lot. Try the poconos you might find some land there with a trailer on it to start.

If you're willing to travel 3-4 hours outside of Philly, you can find land at that price. Finding an artsy, progressive area might be tougher. You'll have to go to northeast or north central PA. Try Eagle's Mere in (I believe) Sullivan County or look at some of the towns along Route 6.
Closer in, there's an arts community in the Jim Thorpe area but land would be more expensive.

I would suggest you post this on one of the other PA boards, like Pittsburgh or the Northeast or General PA board. I can't imagine buying an acre without a house around here (Lehigh valley) for under $100,000, but I imagine it might be possible in an unpopulated area. Artsy, progessive, healthy (bodily health or economy??) along with the bargain price sounds awfully optimistic but who knows?
