Never mind. I assumed you lived in West Philly.

No I live in center city and only plan to spend extra money on transportation when I schedule to look at a apartment.

You really had no luck with Craigslist? Admittedly it's a lot of filtering through crap, but there are some gems to be found, provided you stay on top of it and pounce on new postings as they come in. That's how I found my current place in QV a year and a half ago.

So should I wait until I have three months rent and then start contacting people? I won't have three months until 4/19 and only have 2 months right now

I live in University City, and one thing I would consider doing is checking the bulletin boards at the Green Line Cafe at 43rd & Baltimore, the Mariposa Food Co-Op on Baltimore Ave., the kiosk in Clark Park, etc.

Also, get a copy of the University City Review weekly newspaper.

Because of the abundance of students, a lot of the housing available is home shares and apartment shares ... but I'm guessing you want your own separate apartment.

I'm moving in August from 1,000 miles away. How early should I start to look? I'd like to make an apartment-hunting trip, but I want to know when I'd have the best luck of securing a place while I'm there instead of being told to wait longer. I plan to live in Center City, preferably west of Broad and north of South St.

Where do I get a copy of that?
