Can you ask her to bring back the chili cheese dogs?

The problem is the culture of silence. Those pictures of them are perfectly clear. It's whether someone will turn them in. No one talks. That's the problem.
Somebody who doesn't like one of them will drop a name.

People only stay quiet when drug gangs/maniacs/violent family are involved ... and I don't blame them.

If I saw a member of a biker gang beat or kill someone in my neighborhood, I'd have a hard time pointing him out in court. I still have to live here.

I wouldn't have a problem making an anonymous phone call and dropping a name in a case like this, though.

Of course, there's still a Wendy's at 15th and Chestnut, but it's a smaller store with fewer seats about 50 feet or so west of the corner on Chestnut.

And there's a Wawa at 13th and Chestnut now that doesn't seem to attract this sort of crowd.

I guess it's the old real estate mantra at work: The three most important attributes of a property are location, location and location.
.
Yes, I remember Wendys moved mid-block (the best scenario, if it must be there).

And yes, its always location. Robinson Luggage was a nice store on this corner, and now look what happened to it... Ideally this should be luxury retail, but since that isn't happening, a nice restaurant or bank would be the best choices. A bank is limited foot traffic and a nice restaurant brings a totally different clientele.

The less "meeting spots" the better, already proven by moving / replacing the Wendys.

And Karen, I don't mind bank branches, I just don't like to see bank branches filling prime retail spaces on Walnut Street, but a bank would be a huge improvement over this Wawa, heck I'll take an AT&T store over the Wawa.

Today, Wissinoming (Benner and Hegerman):

A fifty-six year old mechanic died after being hit by gunfire exchanged by drug dealers. What a friggin' shame that this happened (by all accounts) to an honest, working man.

Kensington (3300 I Street):

A woman in her 20s was brutally beaten and cut up, almost losing an ear. She's in critical condition.
I don't know if she was involved in drugs and prostitution or not, but that neighborhood is notorious for those sorts of things. Let this be a cautionary tale to young females.

Massive fight amongst teens in Mayfair today, across from Lincoln High. That's always fun. This is why kids should go to schools closest to them. THAT would be progress.

Earlier in the week:

Pizza delivery men were attacked in Port Richmond and Lawndale.

Yesterday, Wissinoming (Torresdale and Sanger):

A male died after being shot in the head in a corner store.

Getting really bad around there.

A male was shot in the head around 11:30 Tuesday night near the Edgar Allan Poe mural on 6th Street, just above Spring Garden.

West Philly (56th and Master):
A sleeping couple (she's 64, he's 54) were awakened by being shot in a home invasion early Thursday morning.
That's messed up, man. I hope these weren't honest working people.
