If the new trolleys have higher capacity, SEPTA may reduce the frequency. That's not an improvement.

even at todays frequency trolleys could use greater capacity at least at rush hour. the advantage of many new trolleys is that while they may only add 25% more seats they might have double the standing room for peak hour. low floor should spees boarsing.

Trolleys like the 34 run at 3 minute headways during rush hour. That's insanely expensive.

Changing that to 5 minutes isn't going to ruin anyone's day and would actually improve a lot of other riders' days if that money is shifted to other routes (or to fixing bridges that are about to fall down.)

True for peak service. How about off -peak service? It's going to be downright painful.

Probably will , Same is happening in Toronto but the Trolleys in both cases will be accessible to everybody and have more capacity along with faster boarding....which makes the trip faster.

who knows what septa will do but fwiw, there's more gain to running fewer trolleys at peak because it reduces the total number of trolleys they need to purchase and maintain. off peak it's just a matter of drivers, power, and crew cycling. just because the trolleys are bigger doesn't mean they will run less frequently. if septa's goal was to have every vehicle full or not run at all, then they'd already be slashing tons of service.
