I can see someone arguing that West Oak Lane and Cedarbrook are in Northwest Philly, but what about Olney? East Oak Lane? Every single thing I posted seems to back up what I am suggesting yet you guys are still second guessing where these neighborhoods are. Where is Fairmount if it's not in North Philadelphia? Center City? No. Spring Garden is the absolute northern border of Center City. Fairmount is in North Philadelphia. Where is Overbrook if it's not in West Philadelphia? Is it in Montgomery County? IDK why this is so hard for you guys.

List of Philadelphia neighborhoods - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
You know, sometimes cities don't fit into nice little lists. And even when they do, it's not because Wikipedia says they do (Wikipedia in this link says Olney is part of Northwest Olney, Philadelphia - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia). It's not like New York's 5 boroughs, which have very clearly defined political boundaries.

If you insist that Philadelphia is only made up of 5 parts, then yeah, what you've come up with makes some sense.

I have no particularly issues with Fairmount being part of North Philadelphia. The best argument people seem to put forward as to it not being part of North Philadelphia is that it doesn't "feel" like North Philadelphia.

Like I said, from the people I know, it's young transplants who have nothing to do with Olney who are the most likely to say Olney is part of North Philadelphia. I know several people who live in Olney who say they live in Olney (or Oak Lane), not in North Philadelphia. And historically, my impression is that Olney has its own distinct identity completely separate from North Philadelphia and its heavy industry, railroads, and nouveau rich. That's not that important to me, though. If people want to invent the term "Upper North Philadelphia" to call the neighborhoods North of North Philadelphia, I've really got nothing in that argument. When someone tells me they live in Olney (or Oak Lane), which is not part of North Philadelphia, I'm still going to go along with them though, until they give up on it. If that changes at some point - I'm happy to go along with that too.

I will say that under no circumstances are Fishtown, Port Richmond, Kensington, and Bridesburg part of Northeast Philadelphia. They are known as the Riverwards. It is a section of Philadelphia which lies in between Center City and Northeast Philadelphia. That's pretty well accepted, going back centuries.

Yes, they do. Oak Lane is in NORTH Philadelphia, which is NORTH of Center City. Fishtown and Kensington are in the Riverwards which is a subset of NORTHEAST Philadelphia which is NORTH and EAST (NORTHEAST) of Center City. Why is this so difficult? I do not understand. I have posted links and described this several times yet you still refuse to believe it.

There has been an ongoing effort to redevelop parts of West Philly. I think University City is trying to move up the street. If West Catholic High-school was closed like the initial plan, I defiantly believe that UC would have purchased that property.

From the City Planning Commission. Page 6. http://www.phila.gov/pdfs/citystats.pdf

Apparently the city considers "Upper North Philadelphia" to be the area centered around Broad and Erie. Take up your fight with them.

Yes they are by boundaries but in reality I think most people wouldn't consider Kensington and Fishtown as part of Northeast Philly and the same goes for East/West Oak lane and Olney for North Philadelphia. I do agree that Fairmount if definitely part of North Philadelphia.

That's because they consider NORTH PHILADELPHIA to be THREE DIFFERENT PLANNING DISTRICTS.

1. Lower North Philadelphia
2. Upper North Philadelphia
3. Olney/Oak Lane District

I've said this several times.

I can understand completely if someone wants to consider the Olney/Oak Lane District as a separate section than North Philadelphia, that's fine. I can even understand if someone wants to consider the Riverwards as a different section than Northeast Philadelphia. Again, that's fine. I like to think of it simpler, and the way it seems to be defined by most, instead of getting all out of hand with all of these different individual sections. I like to think there are 7 sections:

1. Center City
2. South
3. Southwest
4. West
5. North
6. Northwest
7. Northeast
