Hi everyone since summer is almost here I want to know what the curfew is for kids in the summer. I hate when kids are playing basketball late at night past 11. If I hear kids playing at 11 at night can I call the cops on them?

Brilliant idea. Call the cops on kids playing basketball. Whenever I see the youngins here in philly finding fun and productive ways to let out their youthful energy, I'm always quick to try and put a stop to it. This is especially true if said activities take place in well lit public spaces and promote athleticism and teamwork.

Clearly you'll be much better off when these kids have nothing to do and no where to go and they are bored out of their minds.

Curfew is 11 p.m. for 16 and 17 year-olds during summer. Earlier for younger teens.

Maybe they should be spending time with their families? Instead of playing ball at midnight?

Playing ball at midnight is probably cooler, temp wise, than during the day. What would you have them do with their families at midnight? Its not like they have school the next day.

Um maybe be in bed?? Teenagers out at midnight is never a good thing. ESPECIALLY when there is a curfew. Fine the parents.

What in the world is so wrong with a 16 year old playing basketball at midnight. If it's summer and there's no school in the morning what's the issue? I used to stay out late playing basketball every night in the summer.

Spend time with their families? I'm not sure if you're joking or if you're truly that naive. What teenager is looking to spend time with their family? Are you familiar with teenagers? Were you ever a teenager? (It is admittedly very hard for me to imagine teenage frankgn87, i tend to think of you as coming out the womb as a crotchety octogenarian yelling at kids to get off the lawn)

Look it's past curfew, clearly these kids SHOULD be in their homes. A lot of kids with good parents who force their kids to obey curfew are in their homes. These kids aren't... so obviously their parents don't care that much about where they are or what they're doing. Despite not having very attentive parents though, these kids aren't out thugging it up, they're playing basketball.

So why not just let them be? I guarantee you if you push them off the courts the last place they're going is home.

You don't know me.. Thats for sure.. There is a curfew in Philly for minors. Period. They should not be playing ball at midnight. There IS a reason for the curfew.. The reason is that teenagers out this late can only lead to trouble.
