My feelings exactly. So far there are 6 people dead because of this negligence. What the hell is the city doing with all of the money they collect from taxpayers?

The search is still continuing and I pray anyone else found is still alive. This is a terrible tragedy.

wow some of those buildings were very beautiful and i loved the variety. the small building that was torn down in that group was def a historic treasure from the 1880s, the thrift shop was apparently remodeled because the back of the building uses flemish brick bond and has pilasters. The art gallery is a very rare type of architecture known as brutalist, very little of that remains anywhere, and that fenced Beaux arts building behind the thrift shop, well , definitely the best building on that block. I'm sorry i love architecture

22nd and Market Building Collapse: L&I Shuts Down Rosewood Bar | The Philly Post

Last night, the Department of Licenses & Inspections visited Rosewood, the new upscale extension of 13th Street’s Woody’s Bar.

Rosewood was shut down and cited for a variety of violations. But the most interesting detail to emerge is that the contractor doing demolition work on the 22nd and Market building that collapsed did work at Rosewood in May.

I'm glad durf is not around to verify his claim of Philly being a second class downtown! He would probably said, "hey, I told you so." Still, downtown is among the best and will recover from this.

It's a chaotic mess getting down there. No trolley's stopping there, and Market, Chestnut and Arch are blocked.

Rest in Peace to All who died.

...and the first lawsuit has been filed:

First Lawsuit Filed in Philadelphia Building Collapse | NBC 10 Philadelphia

(Heard on the radio last night that this is the same lawyer who represented the victims of the tragic Duck boat accident on the Delaware.)

Not saying there aren't slumlords out there who should be dealt with but in this particular instance this is ALL on the demolition crew for being complete idiots . . .and killing people in the process.

Good post and very true!! Let's not blame building owners for something that was not their fault.
