Why are you posting this in this thread? Public education is a HUGE concern everywhere in this country and has been since the Feds created the Dept of Ed and our cities and productive economy were abandoned! Chicago just closed the most schools at one time in the history of our country.

What I am having trouble is finding the right neighborhoods for someone like me
I do like to be around alot of diversity...I have been looking in Bucks County and Northeast Philly but I don't know how far is that from the main areas in Philly.

And also I am going to try and secure a job first before I move bc it does makes the most sense. Right now I am working as a Child Support Case Manager and hopefully I can find a job working with DHS in Philly but if not I will take whatever falls in my lap! I do like the idea of working in the airport =]
Point Breeze is a changing area, for the better, but I would recommend it at this point. Bucks County and the Northeast would be good options but will be at least a half hour to Center City Philadelphia. What is your budget?

Because the op asked about education for their child.

Philadelphia is your best option in my opinion. Yes, the public school system currently suck, but that's for a particular reason, which is another story within itself. However, there are some great charter schools in Philly. Plus, the Philly job market panders to single mothers, and there are a lot of jobs that only require bachelor degrees. The far NE section is great for raising kids...
