Walk or catch a taxi to the corner of 17th and JFK Blvd for a 124 or 125 Septa bus to the mall. SEPTA | Southeastern Pennsylvania Transportation Authority may be helpful although I find it incredibly user unfriendly. Bring a fist full of ones for buses and taxis. The bus stops at several locations around the court and plaza. portions of the mall. Also google King of Prussia Mall if you haven't yet. It is actually two separate malls surounded by big box stores, hotels, restaurants etc. Wear your best walking shoes and prepare to be exhausted. You can also rent a car (any of the major companies) and pick it up at 30th Street train Station for the trip if your stamina is limited but make a reservation at least a day ahead. The mall is about 20 miles west of town.

It's not 45 minutes. Should take you about 25 minutes. There are no direct transit routes to the mall exactly. You could probably take a taxi there though. Don't know if you'll be able to catch a taxi back to the city from the mall however. You could rent a car for the day as well. If this sounds like too much of a hassle there is pretty good shopping in Center City Philadelphia itself. Pretty nice Macy's and a lot of shopping on Walnut and Chestnut Streets (mostly between Broad Street and 19th streets).

What are you talking about? The 124 and 125 go right to KoP as mentioned upthread. But that's at least an hour ride on the weekend. And that's a $75 or $100 taxi ride.

I meant there are no direct rail lines to the mall, and there should be. Would you want to sit in a bus for an hour? I'd rather pay the taxi.

Hopefully the P&W will be extended to KoP, but I'd rather see the bridge restored first. It's sure a shame that nobody wants to pay for public transit.

I've taken the 124/5 and of course it's no fun, but sometimes it's the best option (students, those without licenses, mall employees from the nearby neighborhoods, whatever). Presumably if I couldn't drive or rent a car but could afford private transit from CC to KoP, I'd hire a towncar which waits for one to shop. It'd cost just s much.

I love taking public transit, and I would take a bus, just not for that long. For that long of a trip, I'd rather use the comfort of a train.

CH Mall has cleaned up quite nicely, though Echelon/Voorhees Town Center wasn't doing too well last I checked (albeit back in 2008).

And he probably means hell in the urbanist snob sense--ie, not hell at all. KOP is a top shopping destination for a reason. But if I were an out-of-tower visiting Greater Philadelphia, I'd make a day of it--rent a car and check out not only the Mall but maybe Valley Forge, Longwood Gardens, perhaps even West to Dutch Country.

Yes, there is public transit and yes, it is cheaper than a taxi or car rental. But ... if the OP is from out of town and, therefore, probably intent on getting the most out of her/his visit, there'll be a lot of purchases. That will mean a lot of stuff to tote around the mall and on the bus. With that in mind, I'd opt for renting the smallest car I could find - a bit more expensive than the bus, but logistically easier.
