Must say I never heard that area called Francisville. Always considered that area as part of Fairmount.

I'm so sick and tired of these vaunted long-time residents whining about their neighborhoods changing. They lived their for decades and didn't do anything to make the area less of a you-know-what hole. Now the neighborhood is improving, property values are going up and all they do is moan. Screw them. There's plenty of affordable housing in this city. If a few blocks here and there gentrify and become out of reach for poor people, too damn bad. Move 6 blocks north and, boom, it's affordable again. We've got mile after mile of craphole affordable neighborhoods. Please allow a few blocks to decrapify. You had your chance. You blew it.

You know what, I'd like to live on Delancey Street. I can't afford it so I live elsewhere instead. That's life. Deal with it and shut the hell up.

I know this is coming across as insensitive, but what do people want? The whole city to be a festering slum?

Nothing wrong with having a little gentrification in parts of North Philly. People act like it's the end of the world. I like seeing rough neighborhoods improve.

Why?

Because you don't agree?

It would be better if it weren't pushing the ghetto dwellers into NE Philly though.

look at the headline, theyre trying to create a problem. it is the daily news, not exactly a bastion of good journalism. its working too, look at mancat attacking old timers he doesnt even know based on valerir russ'inflammatory writing. old timers blame newcomers for higher taxes and newcomers blame old timers for not stoppong white flight and the deatruction of the urban job bas. each side blaming the other for things outside their control. i tend to think valerie russ went out of her way to make the tension seem worse than it is.separated at rebirth, garbage
