Can anyone give me any info on whatever happened to Wagner's ballroom? We use to go there for Sunday afternoon dancing when I was a teenager, Jerry Blavitt use to DJ there. Is the building still there, demolished, or replaced? I can't find any photo's of the place on the web but sure wish I could. Does anyone know the history, when it was built, was is always a ballroom, etc? Thanks.

I don't know if it's still there. I remember it though, up by Broad & Olney or Chew Avenue I think. I'm sure it's met the same fate as the Esquire theater.

I tried researching the history of it but could come up with nothing. Next time I go to Phila I'm gonna ride by there (Broad & Olney) to see just what is there now or if it's boarded up.

This list indicates that it was at 1750 N. Broad St. which would be between W. Montgomery and Cecil B. Moore if Google Maps is correct.

The building still stands. It's facade has been altered quite a bit so you may not recognize it driving past.

Oh thank you! Is it abandoned or in use?

It was located at Broad and Old York Rd. I don't think that there is any way that you would recognize the building now. It's been divided into multiple retail stores and the facade has been changed. The building originally housed the Bromley Theater which was built in the 1930s. It was converted to Wagner's Ballroom in the mid 1950s. IIRC Wagner's closed sometime in the 1980s.
