When are you moving? December 2013 / January 2014
Where are you coming from? Cincinnati, Oh
Why are you moving? Wife wants to go back to school at Rosemont College
Where will you be working? Somewhere, I work in the Beer/Wine industry
Have you been here yet? Twice, mainly for touristy things. Somewhat familiar with the central part of Philadelphia.

Will you buy or rent? Rent
If renting, are you looking for an apartment, a townhouse or loft? How much can you spend? We are interested in anything that is pet-friendly. Rent is significantly lower in Cincinnati, so we understand that we will have to pay more. Based on what I've seen online, we anticipate paying 900 - 1400 a month.
Do you prefer hi-rise or walk up? No high rises please

Do you have a preference of living in a NJ or PA suburb? We would definitely consider it.

Are you married or single? Do you have children? Married, no kids.
Do you have pets? 3 dogs (bully breed mixes), we may only have 2 when we move
Do you want or need a yard? Would be preferred
Are you keeping a car? Yes, maybe two cars
Do you prefer bustling activity or calm and quiet? Good mix of both

What do you want to be closest to? My wife would prefer to be close to Rosemont College. I have been driving 45 minutes to work for years, so I believe I can commute from anywhere.
Work
Shopping
Basic services (supermarket, drugstore, etc.)
Nightlife
Train or subway stations

Do you want to live with people of a similar age, race, religion or sexual preference or do you prefer a diverse neighborhood? We are a mixed race couple (she is black, I am white), and we would prefer to not live in any areas where this would be an issue.

My wife and I will be visiting this coming week, so I would greatly appreciate it if anyone could recommend some neighborhoods for us to check out. We have some friends living in old city and they have referred us to a few property management companies in the area, but we are afraid that there is not enough greenspace for our dogs in the center of the city (we don't like the dog park idea). We really want to see some of the suburbs, and if it may be possible to find a rental with a yard.

Lastly, we want to see some beaches during our visit. We've never seen the beaches in New Jersey or Delaware, so any recommendations on that will be appreciated as well. Thanks in advance.

I would suggest areas along the Main Line (closest to Rosemont), Say Ardmore to Paoli (alos puts you on the same train line that runs past Rosemont into CC) - some other areas might be KOP, Chesterbrook or Conshy. Also look at places like Havertown, Media, etc as you may be able to get a twin with some yard close to the high end of your range. Try some web serches on rentals, maybe a zip proximity search from Rosemont

Price may be your biggest challenge, $900 wont get you much, more as you get closer to $1,400.

For beaches, I recommend Ocean City (more family friendly but very nice), AC (a little seedy but if you like to gamble) or a place like Cape May (furthest but an awesome quaint town, oldest resort town in America)

Best of luck in your search!

Can't help you much, but want to share a little camaraderie - I work in Cincy and the wife and I are planning a Philly move in the next few years. We'll actually be over there next month for a quick visit.
