I just ignore them and turn my head the other way when they get in a accident

I rifle their pockets, the same thing they would do to me if they saw me lying immobile after an accident.

You're allowed to report bikes if you see them parked. The police will confiscate them. Most of the time they're stolen and they're always unregistered. Seriously folks. Keep pestering the police about this. Have all your neighbors do the same. If you know where bikes are being parked keep on it until the police confiscate them. Unfortunately the only way to get anything done in this city is to complain constantly and loudly.

You must not know many poor people then.

How tiny is your world? That's one of the most ignorant things I've ever read.

I grew up poor because my father decided to leave his wife and four children and not support them, even though he had a decent paying job. Nobody in my family was a drug user. There's all kinds of reasons as to why people live in poverty.

I must admit the days of the "honorable, meek, kind, religious, hard-working, trying to make ends meet, family-oriented" poor are a thing of the past.
Today, it seems most of your poor are dirtballs with a chip on their shoulder who will take whatever they can get by any means necessary.

I seriously doubt you know any poor people. Or maybe your personality just attracts drug addicts in poverty. The system keeps most people in their social class for life, but there are drug addicts in all groups.

When did this board become so crass? A few of you belong on philly.com...

Very good post.If you look at the odds, a good percentage of people on here are only a paycheck or two away from being on the street.

It is easier to ignore the plight of the poor by turning them into a sub-class that is undeserving of betterment and worthy of disgust.
