I don't know if there are many Chester County people who read and post here, but I often wonder why the properties listed in the Stening Hills section of Kennett Township are always priced significantly lower than the rest of the township. The neighborhoods "look" okay...but there's got to be something: bad builder, high crime...? something is suspicious. Anyone ever hear anything?

VEEEEERY Interesting: Even the realtors I've querried have not responded to my question. Something definitely "off" with the area. Time to move on...

Default Stenning Hills

Soulserv,
Have you found anything out yet about the Stenning Hills section of Kennett Square? I am new to PA, renting in Chester County, and I am looking at houses in that area. It does look like a nice neighborhood, and it's in my price range. The residents seem to keep up their properties and it seems quiet from my few visits. I see that you have gotten no response here, but please let me know if you have found anything out from other sources.
Thanks.

This is an old thread, but it comes up in my Google search, so I thought I'd respond. I live in Stenning Hills, and the "off" thing the post refers to is that there are a lot of Black and Hispanic people living here. If you're the kind of person who doesn't like excellent street life and great diversity, please stay away with your racist self; if you want to live in the kind of neighborhood many Americans only know of through their grandparents, this is a great place. It is low-crime, and people here take enormous pride in their homes. It's also extremely well policed by the excellent KSPD, who respond to nuisance crimes here that would generate a guffaw from a dispatcher in a larger town.

I am not racist, Ethan. Ethnicity was not my worry. Poor building...or perhaps underground gas tanks or radon, lead paint. THAT'S what I was worried about. I've been living in Kennett Square now for two years and despise my (whitebread) neighborhood. They, like myself, are all "transplants" with attitude, and I can't wait to get out. I've since checked out Stenning Hills up close, and it's a very nice area - perhaps a bit too many little kids for my liking, but I would certainly consider it if I was going to stay in the area. I am a White person who comes from an area of Wallingford which is highly diverse, Garden City. I moved out here for more yard (now I have too much - LOL). On my former street we had Asian, Middle-Eastern, Black, Ukranian and White folks, and I really liked it there.
