Hi - sitting in hotel in Chambersburg at the moment. Thinking of taking a leisurely drive in tomorrow (staying in Philly for a couple of days).

From Media, is there any problem with taking Baltimore Pike/Ave in as far as 38th, then taking Spruce/South St across the river and into the city? First time we've been to Philly in 10 years, so I'm not that familiar with it. Final destination is the Alexander Inn on 12th/Spruce. I've had enough interstate driving, so I'm ok with avoiding that.

Thanks.

No problem whatsoever. When I lived near Baltimore Pike it was the quickest way to get to University City. Deep west Philly might seem a little rough if you we're from the burbs, but you seem like you'll know what to expect.

Make sure you google street view the intersection you plan to leave baltimore pike at. The very last chance to get off it before it's bridge is kind of cryptic and you'll almost certainly miss it.

Ok - made it in no problems, and I really liked the drive in as well. I even made it onto 38th, no issue (helped that traffic was a little heavy, so I had plenty of time to study the signs).

From maybe 45th street or so down to 38th, that area looked interesting for a potential future residency - diverse, young, without being too uppity/trendy. Yeah, I got all that from the car, haha. Anyway, I'll have to look at the map and figure out what that was.

Penntrification.

That's Univ Penn territory. Lots of students, faculty, and young families around 38th-45th.

Fantastic neighborhood.

Keep in mind though that trouble isn't too far away so you need to be aware of your surroundings especially at night.
