I don't currently live in Philadelphia, so I don't have a real local perspective on the issue. What would the people against Nutter's request have him do?

From what I understand, there are a lot of dead beats using city services without paying their property taxes. These people are basically thieves. I don't think it's a great sign that a mayor needs to ask people for more help, but I also wonder what actual things he can do now. It seems like whatever he does needs to do be at low or no cost.

How about making the deadbeats pay instead of making the honest people pay more to cover em? Hows that for an idea?

Yeah, I agree! Does the city have the staff to do this now?

Is this a problem that Nutter inherited, or is it something that's been happening a long time?

Edit: These are all honest questions, I just want to know what's happening

I think there's an important difference between making people pay more and asking people to contribute, though.

Nutter is not a good Mayor. Just take the time and look at city council`s plan to bring money in for the schools and then look at Nutter`s plan. City council wants to sell property that the city owns that is just sitting,to developers(which I been saying for awhile now). You are talking about jobs, new housing and a new tax base.what is the great Nutter`s ideal. To make the 8% sales tax permanent and borrow the money on the future income from the tax. This texts book Nutter tax and fine and now he is asking for handouts.

Most of the public schools stink, but city services are pretty damn good.

Dude. The trash removal is horrible. Those guys were slow and missed half the trash and never picked up trash they missed throwing on the truck. There is no leaf or brush removal. You are on your own for that. The Police services is deplorable.. Snow plowing is just about non existent.. Street cleaning and general grass and island clean up is non existent. Parks and recreation do a horrible job too. The city parks have non working bathrooms and water fountains and is mostly graffiti ridden..

If you thin thats pretty damn good you aught to see what other areas have.. You would be amazed.. like we were

If you guys aint doing anything tomorrow let me know.. Our township day is tomorrow and come on over.. You will be shocked
