I worked for a local band as a roadie/guitar tech that opened for a lot of those one-hit wonder bands that came through the area. They opened for the Ramones twice. Once at Ripley, and once at the Brandywine club in Delaware. I was on the second floor of Ripley, where the pinball machines and stuff were, and I saw what looked like a praying mantis from a godzilla movie hunched over a pinball machine. It was Joey Ramone. I had no idea how tall he was. Towered over me. I thought it was cool he was just hanging out. The other Ramones never left the dressing room before or after the show.
Speaking of meth fueled daze, did you ever hang out at club Revival?? ooOO00Ff . . . looong eventful nites to say the least!! ha ha
My Wife was a CB's kiddie back in the day. She was a Dead Boys fan back then
My Son tells me a movie is coming out about CB's back in da day. This should be interesting.
I havent been to NYC in a while. The last time I went, I lived in Vermont and came down to see Television at the Irving Plaza. Great show!!
Ahhhh, the good olde daze
As I type this, I'm trying to watch the Iggles game, so you have my rapt attention.

The reason Johnny liked me is because I shared a love of the Yankees (don't hate, I grew up seeing Yankees stadium from my bedroom window) and his early rock influences, a love of commercial pop from the 60's (look at my other posts, you'll see I'm a consummate music geek). Johnny was the most intellectual, although Dee Dee was pretty smart.

Joey was a beast, in looks, size and talent. Not a really bright bulb though. He did love pinball, so did Johnny. It's funny that I became friends with Johnny, I think Joey and the others would have had more in common with me. I'm sure you are familiar with their history, all the tales are true, but John was a straight laced control freak (he loved pizza and beer, but would only drink two at the very most, never even tried pot, as far as I know), Joey liked to make sure everything was drained from his liquor bottle (as myself), Dee Dee seemed cool, but he was secretive, although coke/crank was socially acceptable back then, shooting skag was not. Dee Dee offered, I declined. Obviously that lifestyle eventually brought him to a sad end. I never really got a feel for Marky. These behaviors may explain why they stayed put in their dressing rooms. Oh, and they hated each other too, maybe that's another reason.

I don't remember Revival, but it's possible I was there. I went to a LOT of venues.

Shame about Latin Casino/Emerald City being torn down decades ago for Subaru's headquarters. Any club that hosted Sinatra (many times), Bobby Darin, Richard Pryor, BB King, Talking Heads, Elvis Costello, The B-52's, Squeeze, Dire Straits, Prince and the first date that the Cure ever played in the US, as well as where Jackie Wilson had his stroke, should have been kept as a monument forever. But time moves on....

Love the Dead Boys, Stiv Bators LIVES!

I saw a trailer for the CBGB's movie, kinda revolves around it's owner Hilly Kristal, but it doesn't look all that promising, unfortunately. Hopefully it's just the trailer that sucks, but it's probably the movie.

You haven't been to NYC since Television were around???? That's like two generations. It's only two hours away, a great day trip. What's the matter, man????

This is the best one. Please do not use Ween songs as an example for anything. They're terrible!
