I have pondered this question long and hard and still don't know if there is a right answer so I figured I would put it out there for everyone here: What is fastest way to get into the city from Horsham, PA: Taking 276 East to 95 or take 276 West to 76? I grew up in Eastern Bucks so I'm used to taking 95 but it's much farther away now. It's obviously much more direct for me to take 76 to 30th street but I try to avoid 76 at all costs, though that's mainly because of its reputation.

I work in University City but take Regional Rail 99% of the time. The few times I have driven in, I have tried both and found both to suck pretty equally so I was wondering if there is one that sucks just that tiny bit less. If only there were a 611 Expressway...

You can also take 309 cut over to Lincoln drive and down west river drive to U City if you want to avoid 76

I don't like 611 or 76 so personally, I would take the back way. I would use the back way to get to stenton Ave, Lincoln and Kelly Drive. The two drive are not for everyone but it beat "surekill".

I commuted from Lansdale to Drexel for a few years and avoided 76 at all cost.

I most often find myself on 611 to Roosevelt Expy/Rt1 and then 76 east. If traffic is really bad you can get off at Girard Av or Spring Garden but I am only coming from Abington so I miss a good portion of 611.. It doesn't make sense to me to go so very far out of your way and in the wrong direction just to use 95 which sucks in the morning anyway.

That obviously makes the most sense as far as distance traveled but is it that much easier? I feel like all the lights on 611 would slow you down just as much if not more than the bumper-to-bumper on 76.

Interesting, never considered that. Probably just as good as any other option. I, too, try to avoid 76 at all costs. I'll have to try this one day if I'm driving in. Thanks for the advice!

I need 611 to get to Rt 1 to get to 76. My alternative is to skip that and stay on 611 the whole way. It's 6 of one and a half dozen of the other. The OP is talking about cutting east (on the turnpike no less) to 95 which makes no sense to me because on 95 he will be going south west, but still in heavy traffic. The bottom line is that takes him way too far east in order to go south on a road that sucks anyway.
