I am moving to the Ardmore area later this year and wanted to know of gyms/places I can play in pickup basketball or leagues. YMCA's?

Thanks!

Not really familiar with Ardmore, but I am sure there has to be an LA Fitness close by. They have pick-up leagues.

Hoffman Park in Lansdowne can have some seriously good competition at times. People from all over go there, and there's been times Philly dudes who I'm guessing got pushed out of their neighborhood playgrounds ended up playing there. It's not for soft people and you need to watch your mouth, but the competition can be really good.

The Ridley Y used to be locally known for having strong pickup games, not sure if that's still the case.

I would bet the brand new Haverford Y will have some serious pickup games given its location and the lack of a Y with courts anywhere near there. People in the area either have to go to Watkins Center in UD (where St. Cyril's plays) or to the Ridley Y.

.
If this is the park with the basketball courts next to the tennis courts I'd agree. I've seen some pretty big guys there hooping (6'7+)

^This.

When I drive by on weekday evenings, I always see a game going on inside on the court.

The best basketball (indoor) in the area is at the HealthPlex in Springfield. Otherwise, like others have said, the Haverford Y is a solid option.
