There are wealthy parts. There are middle class parts. There are working class parts. There are even parts with public housing. I doubt you've ever been to either place.
I guess I'd be looking at the working-class section since homes in any decent neighborhood are hard to come by under 300K (move-in ready, that is). I'm not into dumping a lot of money into another home. The most I'm willing to do is have all the carpets taken out and the hardwoods refinished, and that's IT! So I'll need to have the central air and the majors, as I call them, in good shape (roof, HVAC, etc.). Sigh...this moving is getting old, my friends

You should definitely be able to find something in Havertown in a nice area that doesn't need much work for under 300K for sure.... I'm personally a fan of Westgate Hills neighborhood... but there are plenty of other good areas.

There do appear to be quite a few move-in ready homes in nice areas at/around $300k.

Hi. Could you tell me a few names of streets in that area? I'd like to check it out tomorrow afternoon after work. Is that where Carlitto's is? Or is it Carlino's? Been a while

I can't think of any specific street names, but it's the neighborhood off of West Chest Pike across from Manoa shopping center.
ROTFL!!!!! My nieces, their boys and I just ate at Mrs. Marty's YESTERDAY!! Not as crowded as it used to be probably because of the big Panera's and the burger place. So I did avoid the Whitefish salad and went with a safe turkey Reuben. Wasn't too bad...but not real deli. My eldest niece did love her matzo ball soup (but what does she know). I assume it's like the non-Italians who think that the Olive Garden is authentic cuisine - HA! But I have a soft spot for the place. Worked all 4 years of high school at the LP Movie Theatre (big screen - yeah!) and was introduced to my first Pastrami on rye at Marty's! Thought I was in Heaven!
OKAY, SO WHERE IS HYMIES?
I used to live by that Mrs Marty's ... yeah it was just ok. There is a small place called the Hungry A, I think on Sproul Road in Broomall that makes a great sandwich.
Yes. I visited there today since I was in the area. Won't even tell you what I spent!!! But what a FABULOUS place!
