if being close to wegmans, target, whole foods and trader joe's is a priority your only option is to live near Ambler/north wales. At the intersection of 63 and 309 you have TJ and Wholefoods. About 5 min down 309 you have Target plus a number of other stores, and a further 5 mins down the road towards mongtomerville you have the mall, more shops and wegmans. the drive to doylestown via 202 is a pretty nice drive too on a well maintained road.

Additionally I got the vibe that Doylestown caters more to families with kids, while Ambler is a lil more diverse, including its population. I may be wrong, but that's my opinion.
Doylestown has a FAR larger downtown than Ambler. No comparison. Given the situation, I'd suggest living in or near Doylestown borough. I actually think there would be a decent number of singles in that age range in Doylestown - it's the kind of place someone with that profile would want to live. There are plenty of chain stores and a Wegmans down Rt 611 in Warrington. A little further away, down Rt 202, on 309, is Montgomeryville, which has even more.

I drove from Doylestown to the Costco/TJ's in Montgomeryville just a couple of weeks ago and it took 15 minutes and that was without knowing any short cuts.
