Okay. It is Obama then who decides whether or not a corportation is in violation of anti-trust laws.

This much is clear though, Comcast just a bought a company that has 50,000 employees and they have made very clear their commitment to Philadelphia. Thus I think you can virtually guarantee that jobs are coming to Philadelphia as a result of this deal. The only real question is how many?

This is one of the best things that could ever happen to Philly, and Philly is very lucky to have a corporation headquartered here that is so committed to the city.

David Cohen lives in Mount Airy and has had fundraising dinners for Obama there, but that's not really relevant. The Federal Trade Commission is delegated the responsibility to prevent anticompetitive business practices and monopolies.

Agreed. Interestingly Cohen also has hosted a fundraiser for Tom Corbett.

Perhaps something more useful in understanding Comcast's politics would be contributions made from the Comcast Political Action Committee (ComPAC). It's pretty even between Democrats & Republicans.

Comcast Corp Summary | OpenSecrets

And to address an earlier question, Comcast's acquisition of Time Warner really has no anti-trust implications. They have no overlap in footprint, and their merger does not have the ability to take any provider choice away from any subscriber anywhere in the world.

Exactly. Let's be real here. Big corporations aren't stupid -- they're going to contribute to whichever party has the political upper-hand. They're not interested in partisanship - they simply want an ear in the White House and Congress.

Right, it's not like Comcast has any political ideologies or beliefs as a regular person would. They're concerned only with making more money and they'll make donations to anyone if it helps them reach that goal.

Sure it is. Obama is the puppet master for the IRS. You honestly think Obama is not going to influence the trade commission?
