Summer olympics would be fantastic for Philadelphia. I wonder how and to whom one would go about suggesting it?

They could make special accommodations in the stadium for an Olympic event. The Linc also has a seating capacity of 68,000. Fisht Stadium that was recently used in the closing ceromony for the 2014 Olympics games has a capacity of 47,000. So the Linc is definitely a big enough stadium for Olympic ceremonies.

There has to be a gnarly 185' vertical at Belmont Plateau for the downhill?

Comcast is the only reason i would have any hope for Philly to host a summer olympics. They are the bankroll of the olympics and should have more pull than anyone.

I'm all for it and hopefully some of the infrastructure investment would go into de-ghettoizing the ride from the airport to Center City. The roads are filthy and the general scene is horribly outdated in a bad way, the sites are disgusting(junk yards, sewage plant, mount metal, gas refineries etc etc..

Route 202 from KOP to west Chester is about 20 miles in distance. They have brand spanking new pavement and artistic 30 foot high sound barriers walls for the entire length- the cost has to be in the tens of millions. Can we get a mile or 2 stretch of those artistic barriers to shield the awful refineries and the ghetto down there in Point Breeze?

We'd better get on this soon, since bids usually go in about 30 years in advance!

Are you guys being serious? It's pretty common knowledge that Philly is one of several US cities interested in getting the 2024 USOC's backing.

when i said 6 hours, I was referring to Whiteface / Lake Placid, which has hosted the olympics twice. in any event, i was being sarcastic, in case that wasn't obvious. clearly, philly would never host the winter olympics for various obvious reasons.
