used to drop a point on North Philadelphia whenever you Googled "Philadelphia" like a year ago. When did they fix this? Was there a story about it. I think Bing Maps also dropped it in North Philly too. The neighborhood was really rough looking and I'm pretty sure it scared off some tourist.

Here's where it used to drop:

I think Google's up to something, how come they made sure they put the point on every city's center, but put ours there when they redid Google Maps in 2012 ? They did the same thing to Apple when they put it on their garbage cans. Methinks google is trying to send us a subliminal message.

It might have been 2 years ago, but I remember googling "Philly" and looking it up on bing and it always went there.

North Philly pretty much is Philly's geographic center.

I really don't think the world is conspiring against Philly.

I know it was probably a mistake on their part, but they still made sure the point was in a good neighborhood and not a bad one :-/.

A study, commissioned by John Street, determined the EXACT geographic center of the city. It was in North Philly of course, but I wish I could remember exactly where.

So we are not looking for an easily found equidistant point of a circle or square. But the skewed and uneven have midpoints, too, and in this 130-square-mile city that geographic locus is . . .

Sixth and Erie.

^Wow I was going to say 5th and Erie, but I think I remember in the back of my head having read that before-probably that same article.
