You may find that Horsham itself is a good area for you. Meets all your criteria, and would be a great commute! Other areas to consider would be Upper Dublin, Ambler, North Wales, Warrington, Lansdale . . . but they're not going to be a whole lot different than Horsham in terms of atmosphere, price, or schools. When I moved to the area (to work in Horsham) those were the areas i looked at

Good suggestions. Abington and Ambler may work as well.

For shopping, you'll be close to Willow Grove Mall. It's a great mall but small. The biggest baddest mall in the area is King of Prussia. You won't be far from that either. You can find anything in KOP mall.

For nightlife, you'll probably find yourself going to Doylestown, Conshohocken or Manayunk or even into the city.

I thought Manayunk was apart of the city?
