McGillin's for lunch. Of course you know not to do Pat's, Geno's or Hard Rock Cafe...

Check to see what interesting outdoor events might coincide with their visit. I'm thinking more neighborhoody type free events, not massive Parkway events.

Check for free or cheap events at the oval or penn's landing. Also check some of the smaller venues like union transfer etc to see if any bands are playing that you might like. That would definitely be a local's scene.

Go for a walk in the Wissahickon along Forbidden Drive, followed by lunch at Valley Green Inn. And/or take a walk/drive in Chestnut Hill (beautiful architecture there) and have lunch there. Also, a stroll along the canal in Roxborough -- plenty of places to eat. Gives visitors a different perspective of Philly, since these places are not downtown.

As a local, I got a big kick out the the Duck Tour (are they still running those?) -- and they even pointed out that mural pictured above in the Curtis Building. After the tour I was able to go in and look at it close up.

Something I've always wanted to do but never got around to -- tour of City Hall, and going up to the top to look out.

How about a stroll around Penn's campus? Several historic buildings ... shady Locust Walk ... statue of Ben Franklin on a bench ... lots of good restaurants nearby.
