Tony Jr.'s is a decent spot. If you have a friend with you, get a cheesesteak and a roast pork and split the two!

Although it is not technically in center city, Jim's at 4th and south in one of the best cheesesteaks in the city. Pat's and Geno's are just tourist traps their cheesesteaks are average at best.

Personally, I've found Jim's to be the worst steak i've ever had in Philadelphia . . . and worse than many outside of Philadelphia. They seem to appeal to the ketchup crowd.

I've heard a lot of good things about this place. Anything in particular set it apart from the others?

Always hot and fresh, not overly greasy ... hottest steaks ever. Nice size (me and my woman split one). Chopped, not slabbed. Great cheesefries, too. Order them "well done."
There's a new location @South and Randolph that's much larger than the original.
