What do you think the crime rate will do? Will it fall, or will it rise? Personally, I believe the crime rate will continue to fall. I know this year murders are slightly up, but it's not a huge increase. Violent crimes are also down from last year, at this point in the year. Hopefully the numbers continue to drop, and Philadelphia can become a "safer" big city.

If the poverty in the city decreases, so will the crime. I think Center City and surrounding will continue to become safer, but as a whole I think crime in Philly will remain more or less the same, maybe a slight decline each year over the next 5-10 years.

Murder is a very poor statistic to look at, since in most cases it is either domestic conflicts or organized crime related.

Robberies and property crime is a much better metric. Right now there are multiple robberies per day in the "nice" parts in and around center city, the mecca of gentrification. When that number goes down, I'd say things are improving.

Nationally crime is down but poverty is up. The only thing it really highlights is that we don't really know what drives crime

I don't like the homicides are up the less violent crime is important
